Aspiring and established playwrights have now submitted their comedy scripts for the third Liverpool Hope Playwriting Prize. One comedy writer could walk away with £10,000 and the opportunity to have their play considered for production by Liverpool’s Royal Court theatre.
The Liverpool Hope Playwriting Prize is the second largest national playwriting competition, and provides a great platform for new comedy writing across the UK and Republic of Ireland.
Scripts must be original and unperformed, and we encourage writers of varying experience - from novice first-timers to professional playwrights - to enter their work.
The Prize is judged anonymously, meaning the reading and judging panels do not know the identities of the writers until a winner has been chosen.
Since 2015, The Liverpool Hope Playwriting Prize success stories include winners and highly commended writers who go on to have their plays commissioned at theatres and auditoriums across the UK.
Entries for the 2019 Playwriting Prize are now closed. The shortlist will be announced shortly - check these pages regularly for updates.
